英语中有很多叠声词（组），复合词或词组前后发音相近，读起来朗朗上口，富有音乐感。

Tit for tat：针锋相对

Tweedledum and tweedledee：半斤八两

hum and haw：表示犹豫或支吾的嗯嗯呃呃声  

rat-tat, rat-a-rat, rat-tat -tat：（敲门的）砰砰声。

Hotch-potch：大杂烩

Criss-cross：纵横交错

Helter-skelter：慌慌张张

Shilly-shally：犹犹豫豫

不少单词似是而非，千万不要望文生义，而误入陷阱。如：

one-two 是“拳击中连击两次”，而不是一种“一二”。

Two-time是“对人不忠”，而不是一种“两次”。

In two twos是“立刻”，而不是一种“两两之间”。

Three-score是“六十”，而不是一种“三分”。

Four o’clock是“紫茉莉或食蜜鸟”，而不是“四点”。

Four Hundred 是“名流、上层”，而不是“四百”。

Five-finger是“贼”，类似汉语的“三只手”，而不是一种“五指”。

At sixes and sevens是“乱七八糟”，而 和“六”无关。

Eight-ball是“老实人”，这里的“八” 和“发”无关。

To the tens是“打扮得极为华丽”，而 “数到十”。

有些单词的词首字母仅仅作一下大小写方面的改变，则差之毫厘，谬以千里。  

大写Jordan指“约旦”； 小写jordan指“尿壶”。

大写John指“约翰”； 小写john指“厕所”。  

大写Shanghai指“上海”； 小写shanghai指“拐骗”。

very funny,isn't it.but the list is too long and web made my list mess together.let me figure some interesting out one by one.

Three-score是“六十”，而不是一种“三分”。 and when i looked at dictionary,i found a very interesting phrase:
three score years and ten 是“一辈子”，maybe in the acient time,people expected of a longevity life was seventy years.haha!
